Description: A Zuchon is a mixed that is a cross-breed of a Shih Tzu and a Bichon Frise and may demonstrate any combination of traits from those two breeds. Hybrids have become very popular in the past few years. They play a big role in the current designer dog trend. The experimentation of these hybrid or designer dogs has not been recognized by the American Kennel Club or Canadian Kennel Club. The key to cross breeding to purebred dogs is what is called hybrid vigour, the breeding resulting in a healthier dog with superior genetic constitution can come from dogs purebred for so long that they have common genetic disorders.

Color: Black and white, silver or grays, tan or cream colors and any combination of these colors.
Coat: Double-coated; soft, medium length, curly. Needs regular grooming
*We have found combing or brushing every few days keeps the hair tangle free and groomers for a hair cut every few months or so depends on the desired hair style.

Temperament: Good temperament, eager to please; lively and spunky, well-mannered.
With Children: High - Since they tend to be hypoallergenic and of a gentle temperament, they are good dogs with children.
With Pets: Medium - High

Care and Exercise: Likes walks and activity. Very much suited to be an indoor dog, but needs outdoor activity as well.
Training: High - Known for their high intelligence; eager to please and tend to be very smart.
Learning Rate: Medium - High - They tend to have the higher intelligence of the Bichon Frise rather than the difficult train ability of the Shih Tzu's.
*We have found them to be extremely smart and easy to train as pups and adults. Litter trained @ 4 weeks being a great example.

Health Issues: This breed tends to be very healthy and should be free from defects of the pure-breeds.
*We have found this breed to incredible health wise, our dogs and puppy's have never had any health issues, Not even so much as a cold.

History: This breed has a short history, beginning just a few years back with the crossing of the Shih Tzu and the Bichon Frise. This created a study and compact family dog with a great temperament.

Activity: High - Likes an active lifestyle with a family.

* We have found this to be true as shown in our family pictures and others but they are also mellow, calm and cuddly, they match your mood and activity day to day.
